Hub4308

hub.4308 in the center of Kyiv is a platform of synergy between veterans of the 12th Azov Brigade, civilians and businesses, combining a store and a café-lecture hall. Created by Between the Walls studio, the space goes beyond classic retail and focuses on accessibility. The team integrated inclusive solutions as their own initiative, rather than a formal requirement: barrier-free access is ensured by a long ramp, sliding doors, wide aisles adapted to the height of the shelves, a lowered cash register with wheelchair access, as well as inclusive bathrooms and changing rooms.

The design concept is based on an intimate atmosphere, natural materials and a conscious approach to sustainability. Dark wood walls contrast with stainless steel panels, and lighting scenarios were developed in partnership with Expolight. The interior is filled with materials with history: vintage terracotta tiles, second-hand furniture, preserved frames of the previous premises and surviving Zeus porcelain stoneware – a product of a Ukrainian factory destroyed in 2022. Combining restrained British elitism, masculinity and comfort, hub.4308 easily transforms into a lecture hall, becoming a timeless space of respect, memory and lively interaction.
