This space is not about style, but about status.
About the peace that comes from simplicity, and about nature that doesn’t need to be recreated – it’s enough to just let it be. That’s why there’s a lot of stone, the colors of clay, shells, and sand. And the sea in all its shades, which change throughout the year and time of day, envelops the view from the window.
From the very beginning, the team’s main focus was locality — in everything: materials, colors, textures. We even looked for an opportunity to use local rakushnyak — a material that symbolizes the old Odessa buildings, and also the beaches, which are not for everyone, hidden from tourists, but retain their authenticity, warm shade, and recognizable texture.
Unfortunately, as a material, shellac is not practical: it is fragile and absorbs moisture. So we looked for substitutes that were similar in appearance, but suitable for everyday life. Despite this, the idea of naturalness remained central.
This interior is not about a specific style. Its style is nature. It creates peace and a sense of grounding, giving a state similar to a real retreat. Everyone who is in this space speaks of a feeling of harmony, comfort and silence.
The space itself was designed as a hotel room, not an apartment. The layout is open, light, with an emphasis on the feeling of air and light. The shower and bathtub are located near the windows and are completely open, creating a natural dialogue between the sea outside the window and the water inside. The bed is turned towards the sea, and the TV was replaced with a projector – so that at home you don’t look at the screen, but create a special atmosphere. The sophisticated furniture was made by Odessa craftsmen, some lighting and furniture items were from Ukrainian brands. The key material was Italian natural stone, which was used for the floor and part of the walls. This was the first experience of its delivery to Ukraine – a complex but successful experiment. The stone was processed by a Ukrainian master who specializes in working with natural materials.
The interior also features vintage accents, such as a leather armchair and handmade ceramics by a Crimean Tatar artist from Kyiv. Each item has its own history and origin, reinforcing the overall idea of naturalness, authenticity, and warmth.
The project was created in collaboration with Sea&Sky, who not only commissioned it, but also actively participated in the process, from the choice of materials to the smallest details.
